A Blog About Blogs

Creating a blog doesn’t sound all that hard (especially if you’re like me and are the type to talk a little too much). It seems easy: choose a topic and away you go.

Only, what do I have that’s worth sharing?

What is my niche?

What could I possibly write about that 7 billion people could relate to, instead of the usual 4 or 5?

It took a lot of brainstorming, but I think I’ve finally decided on one thing that helps me relate to a large majority of the population. That is,  of course, my indecisiveness.

That’s why I decided to make a blog post about why exactly I shouldn’t have a blog.

That’s right! You read it correctly!

I’m just a twenty-something hoping to graduate and get a job (please hire me), all while trying to balance fun and sanity with that. So, no, I shouldn’t have a blog. But I do, and I’m glad you’ve decided to stick around this long because we’re about to have some fun!

Let’s talk about making a blog!

Q: What was the first thing I did to get to this point?

A: Took a bomb selfie while wearing some heart-shaped shades! I slapped a dull filter on it for some ~aesthetic~ and thought I had an awesome start.

These sunglasses aren’t even mine.

Only, I still had no idea what to write an entire blog about. I wanted it to be something I could be proud of, but found myself stressing about what I had to offer with anyone.

So, I did what we’re all taught to do when we don’t know something.

Google.

It really helped to go and look at what other people were blogging about.

As it turns out, there’s a blog for just about everything!

  • College Living
  • Lifestyle
  • Fashion
  • Food
  • That Random One All About Cats

So, I reevaluated my methods. It was obvious a selfie laying on the living room floor wasn’t going to be enough this time.

I started thinking: If I only had a few moments to tell someone about me, what would I want them to know?

Easy

I love my dogs more than I love myself.

I love reading and writing almost as much as I love my dogs.

I’m going to be graduating in May.

And, I still low-key listen to old Taylor Swift music when I shower.

  • As much as I would love to have a blog 100% dedicated to my pups, it wasn’t reasonable because I’m away at school more than I’m with them.

    I mean…flawless.
  • Reading and writing though? That’s something I talk about with anyone who will lend an ear! I plan on incorporating what I’m reading into these blogs! It will be fun to see what everyone else is reading too.

The featured image is a quote of J.D. Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye. I’m going to try and keep my featured imaged as book quotes that match up (somewhat) to the post. I think this one matches up pretty well.

  • Graduating in May?

Now there’s something worthy of engaging with for any number of reasons.

-Maybe you’re in the same boat! You share those nerves with me about finding a career (or the dread when you spend hours looking for just one job that’s what you want).

-Or maybe you’re in college now and and hoping to see some tips!

-Or maybe you’re just here to see me stumble through the process and saying to yourself remember when.

~You’re all welcome here! ~

  • The Taylor Swift thing, while true, wouldn’t work as a blog either. I’ll work with the concept though.

So that’s it.

I’m as broke as any college student who’s ever lived so I don’t get to go on many trips and so, I can’t blog about them.

I don’t spend money on name brands, so you won’t be seeing fashion hauls here either.

So that’s it. I shouldn’t have a blog. But I do, and I’m looking forward to learning it all with you.
